Middle School Athletics (5th – 8th grade)
Woodland School encourages students to confidently seek opportunities to learn and grow, not just in the classroom, but in all areas including athletics. Woodland is proud of the success our students experience on the field and court. In a typical year, over ninety percent of middle school students participate in at least one sport, with sixty percent involved in two or more sports.
The opportunity to participate on a competitive team, learn to work together, and learn how to push through challenges even when things are difficult are all skills that Woodland seeks to nurture in all of our students. Athletics at Woodland creates a venue to foster individual growth and to celebrate the potential in every student. In life and in sports, Woodland recognizes successes and failures as growth opportunities.
Most middle school sports include multiple practices/games each week. Teams are coached by Woodland School employees who have specific expertise and/or coaching experience.
Woodland School offers the following sports teams/programs to its middle school students: Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country*, Football, Golf, Soccer, Speed and Agility Training, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball.
Warriors Running Club is a 3rd–5th grade cross country team that is organized and run by Woodland during the fall with one or two practices per week. Cross country meets, competing against other schools, consist of a one-mile race and are held at Shelby Farms.
